Well, the Horley office is being vacated & those still there are being moved to Redhill!
What's that all about then? Bringing those working on the L&G account together? Distancing us from the empty desks which are a reminder of the attrition that has taken place?

It was always the plan, of course. Having two offices made no sense, if the staff numbers were going to remain the same. Since the plan from day one was to kick out 75% of us, having two offices meant they could manage that with a minimum of fuss.
Makes you proud to be part of the wonderful TCS organisation.

Well well, things don't change at TCS do they. 6 months ago when I left they said nope, not closing Horley, no plans to move the existing staff to Redhill. Well just another lie to add to all the others. I hope the union ensure that any Hove staff are taken care of travel wise, cause it'll be a nightmare journey by car from Hove to Redhill.
Anyone know of any decent contract firms around?

Quote "6 months ago when I left they said nope, not closing Horley".
After the Horley lease was taken out last year, Reigate and Banstead Council, owners of the Horley office, were reported in the press as saying that the redevelopment of the office block into accommodation and shops would now be delayed until 2010. I don't see how it could be redeveloped if TCS were to be still leasing it at that time.

Well it looks like TCS lied to the R&B council as well then doesn't it. They obviously believed that TCS would still be in Horley in 2010. Only TCS know the the real picture. Looks like R&B can now go ahead with their redevelopment plans. It really doesn't look like you can trust anything that TCS say. Really sorry for those left working for them.

At last, the media have woken up to the dodgy dealings that company's like the L&G are getting up to. www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/5lrTime for you all to start e-mailing on this subject. Listen to the podcast, how much does it ring true. Time to whistleblow! Sent mine in already! Might not save us, but will hopefully get some people to start thinking.

It is a very good broadcast BUT the Tata (L&G) plan has been to offshore the jobs all along. The visa abuse has just been an interim measure. They are not filling UK jobs; they are filling Indian jobs! Tata intend to have over 75% of the work done offshore. This is part of the L&G contract because it lowers the manday rate dramatically. Onshore "egg pats" don't even count in this target. Unless the L&G demand picks up soon then there will have to be even more right sizing. L&G customers may not be happy with what is happening BUT it is exactly the contract that Noakes is so proud of.

Anyone else been called??

I have sent a lot of material via email to the program and received a reply from a reporter at the beeb, saying that they may be in contact and they want to continue with the story. Good news that someone has been interviewed, I await the program with interest.
In the meantime, I think that it's a good idea for everyone to write to their local MP about the TCS/L&G outsource saga. There is an election coming up and unemployment is rising - they should be desparate to be seen as helping potential voters. Mention that the BBC is already on the case, because they will want the chance to get their names mentioned in the media.
If the government/department of work and pensions get many similar enquries from many MPs, they will take notice.
If your MP is Labour, mention Gordon Broon's 'British jobs for British workers' speech earlier this year - it should make him or her cringe.

looks like 'our' item was crowded out by other stories running late and need to accomodate match report.
I'm told there is ongoing interest in the story so I guess it may surface later on.
In the meantime 'BB' has a new audience!
