I have been told that L&G will make a decision over whether to outsource BTS in September (http://bit.ly/90kMOa). Anyone know anything?

The latest email from JN so more information should be available soon. In March we briefed you on the data centre review, and the implications for BIS. At that time I said we would come back to you with more information in July, having completed a period of detailed analysis with Fujitsu and IBM.
We are running briefing sessions on 17 June where we will provide an update on the review of options for the data centre, and the implications for BIS. Meeting room constraints mean that we will need to run several sessions – each covering the same information - so you may find that some of your colleagues have been invited to a different session. Please attend the session you have been invited to.

I, for one am looking forward to the change and the possible opportunities for me, lets face it it hasn't been great here for a long time ! what is going to happen? let me use my crystal ball. 230 people will be outsourced to IBM. no redundancies, because that isnt allowed under TUPE. After 6 months, IBM will announce that after a review of the service, they will be making 150-170 people redundant. After 1 year there will be around 50 of the original people left. Desparately trying to keep the service going while working with a bunch of cheap under-trained assistants. if that is something for you to look forward to, you are deluded im afraid.

If you think it "hasnt been good" at L & G - wait until you enter the doors of the big bad wolf that is IBM. At least L & G dont have a track record of a holocaust to their name.

L&G may not have a holocaust to their name but they don't care about their staff any more and anyone who thinks they'll be safe at IBM is deluded. They are TATA in another suit or carefully contrived barrell of total poo. Get another job while you are still employed, don't wait for them to get get rid of you.

Better IBM than most other companies. They do have a pretty wide range of opportunities and sites. I don't think the numbers would change as fast as predicted. IBM are far better than Tata to work for.
I've seen the result at close hand at another site in the SE. There would most likely be a gradual transfer of work over time. Paperwork would become much greater (now that's a job creation scheme).
Whilst you retain decent redundancy terms, IBM may prefer not pay you off, so predictions are pointless. It's not all bad news if it happens - just make sure (via the Union) that you get as good a deal as possible.
IBM tend to run voluntary redundancy schemes before compulsory which also helps. They don't mind staff working from home in many cases even if their roles widen beyond the original contract (i.e. other customers).
