If anyone has taken TCS up on their offer of early redundancy as the technical specialist role did not match their role (ok so I know thats everyone) but what I want to know is this.....have you now reached the hill of enlightenment from the valley of despair .....

On each training day a different manager told us how thrilled TCS were to get 320 Insurance IT resources transferred to them. Now there are 150 of us left. And we all sat there and listened. So is June 1st 2010 when we are all gone?

the document that was accidentally put onto Connex a couple of weeks ago (then rapidly taken off when the Union raised questions about it) showed their "performance improvement" plans. difficult to know how the numbers stack up, but in year 5 of the TCS contract it showed 90 on-shore resources left. year 2 of the contract (where we are at the moment) showed about 190. which implies they are planning to get rid of about 100 more of us over the next 3 years. while continuing to tell us we have a future.
lovely bunch, arent they?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scorpion_and_the_FrogThe Scorpion and the Frog is a fable of unknown author, though often mis-attributed to Aesop.[1] The story is about a scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion reassures him that if it stung the frog, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown as well. The frog then agrees; nevertheless, in mid-river, the scorpion stings him, dooming the two of them. When asked why, the scorpion explains, "I'm a scorpion; it's my nature." Common variations include a turtle, fox, or farmer in place of the frog, or a snake in place of the scorpion. It is often quoted to illustrate the purportedly insuppressible nature of one's self at its base level.

difficult to know how the numbers stack up, but in year 5 of the TCS contract it showed 90 on-shore resources left. It gets better? 2 different management sources have confirmed that 2/3rds of the "onshore" resources will be ex-pats. I.e. there will be 30 ex-L&Gs tops. Even better. Another rumour suggests that they are looking to accelerate the process. Year 5 could become year 3 (2010)?

The sad thing is I find that totally believable. Hopefully most of the remaining ex L&G people at TCS are, like me, actively looking for something new. The roles they are forcing us into are farcical, the whole thing will be a disaster that they will be blaming on us, with appropriate impacts on our PMR. So they never have to offer us a payrise again.
I would love it if we all just left tomorrow, in one big group, leaving L&G with what they seem to want; their systems supported by one big group of cheap Indians. These two firms deserve each other.

No one can really blame or be angry with TCS - it is their nature to offshore everything and has been a very successful policy for them.

I agree, no point in wasting any hatred on TCS anymore than you would on a bad spell of weather.....
L&G on the other hand are truly culpable. If TCS is the rain then L&G are the idiots who decided it was a good time to go camping. I just wonder if the people at the top have any idea of what they have done or have any contingency plan when the inevitable collapse finally happens.
There is only a handful of people left who are keeping the operation afloat and the moment they can get out they will

The vacancy is for an L&G Payroll specialist and KT will be available from the present incumbent. Maybe they're leaving?

Having taken my crock of gold and legged it I've been in contact with some that were left only to find out that they have either left or are leaving so soon there won't be any one left from L&G to KT to. PS we'd all love it if everyone who is looking for a new job all left on the same day! PPS If I was a technical specialist left at TCS I'd tell em where to poke thier vacancy!

Well apparently that plan to get rid of us has been brought forward. 70% of work offshore by November. That would mean starting the redundancy process about yesterday?

Well when I was at TCS in March they were talking about trying not to repeat the redundancy process. This just goes to prove you can't believe a word they say. Although I'm surprised there's anyone left to actually make redundant. I would have thought by now Horley would be a sub state of Bangalore. If anyone wants to go back to L&G there are BTS jobs on the notice board!

They dont need to repeat 'the process' to make more people redundant. This involved a consultation period, rights of appeal, etc., etc. because so many people were involved in the first batch. Subsequent redundancies will not need these, as long as only a few people at a time are canned. I don't know what the limit is, but I expect the Alison (the hatchet) Fry will know as she has had lots of practice. So, TCS are not telling lies! It's the process, not the redundancies that they will not need to repeat. It's a spin job worthy of that other Scottish ar5e named Gordon.

Oh righ the impression I got was that if they made further people redundant they would go through the selection process again. I suppose it's down to how many are for the chop!
Well it's all very sad and very sorry state to get into.....I wouldn't have Alison fry's job for all the tea in china how does she sleep at night!
