As the BTS (I&O) outsource is likely to happen (unstoppable Target Operating Model providing all the risk can be hidden for now and all that ...) then do any of the guys that were outsourced to TCS (or C&W) have any useful advice for those about to be moved? For example: How were you handled - individually assessed and tackled alone with a view to forcing you to agree new contracts/changes/work location etc? How to prepare for the 'process'? How to approach new 'employer'? Who/what sources did you find useful (e.g solicitors, union, joserve, HR...) to help a smooth transission. Or were you completely on your own finding all this out. etc Any help much appreciated I would have from thought from those with 'experience'!

Well to be honest Sheep get handled better but I think it may depend on who you are getting transferred to and how they view your usefullness. The TUPE process will be handeled by UNITE who to be fair got most of the same L&G contract items transferred. ie 35 hr week holiday/redundancy terms etc. View your new employer with suspicion until you know better. They should hold meetings to introduce themselves and let you know their plans. TATA were quite upfront with us and acually said you have a year to find your self another job or you're out the door. Solicitor will only be needed if you get made redundant, UNITE apart from the initial negiation are about as much use a chochy fire guard. Unless the co you are going to is bolshie and has an active UNITE branch. As you know L&G's UNITE members loved to complain but won't strike or work to rule to back the union up.
You really have to wait and see how they view you and whether they want/need you. If they don't you're stuffed. Sorry

Whatever you do, turn up on the first day and don't resign unless you are an unreplaceble god (who will not be made redundant) . A few did not turn up on the first day and as a result lost out completely on redundancy payments. And ... the market is picking up, so there IS life outside L&G. Some were made redundant and then rejoined L&G... not sure what to say about that !!

Whats happening with the IBM deal, I gather everything is alright judging from the lack of comments....IBM's a huge company and probably wont treat employees/customers as poorly as TCS....i can vouch for that

Maybe not, but 50% of UK-based roles are going in Q2 and Q3 this year and this is only round 1.

Definitely not the way TCS do things by all accounts. yes, everything you heard is true they did break rules when they shafted staff months after tupe, and my goodness do they have a lovely bunch here cooking the books, its not just L&G either lol!

IBM like to make people redundant by email (powerpoint presentation).
Seems to me they are in a different league from TCS.

Powerpoint presentations? sounds all too familar, we had the same shit with TCS!
Just wait when the indians start fucking up service from the mothership and those left behind to pick up the pieces, who needs data protection and customer service when you can have an IT dept full of kids running the show.
